Established on the converted site of the Escanaffles sugar mill in Hainaut, the company produces lactic acid from fermentation of sugar and its derivatives.

Concretizing its positive results of research, Futerro S.A., the Belgian community subsidiary company of Galactic and Total, successfully continued the development of its pilot industrial unit to produce PLA (Poly Lactic Acid). The unit has just been inaugurated.
The subsidiary company Galactic Inc. in the USA has commercially redeployed and has installed a production unit.

B&G, the new factory in Bengbu (China) which is a joint venture of Galactic and a Chinese partner, started production in 2005. A derivatives production plant has been established in Milwaukee (USA)
in 2004.
